Washington, D.C., 27 February 2025 – At the annual Colombia-U.S. bilateral engagement with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), held at the Residence of the Colombian Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Daniel García-Peña, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Gregory Meeks, and CBC Chairwoman Yvette D. Clarke reaffirmed their support for the longstanding partnership between Colombia and the United States, describing it as unbreakable.
The event, attended by key members of the U.S. Congress, underscored the CBC's commitment to strengthen ties between both nations. The Colombian Embassy has established this forum as a cornerstone of dialogue and strategic collaboration, acknowledging the CBC's pivotal contributions to sustainable development and social equity in Colombia.
Colombian Ambassador to the United States, Daniel García-Peña, highlighted the significance of this gathering as a crucial platform for advancing bilateral cooperation on priority policy areas. "Tonight, we celebrate the historic relationship between Colombia and the United States, and the unique role that the Congressional Black Caucus has played in our shared history, present, and future. This evening is a reaffirmation of how essential the United States is to Colombia and vice versa. We are here to strengthen that bond, and the support of the U.S. Congress remains indispensable," stated Ambassador García-Peña.
Representative Gregory Meeks emphasised the enduring strength of bilateral ties, stating, "For centuries, Colombia and the United States have worked together, and we will continue to do so. Colombia is the United States' strongest ally in the Western Hemisphere, and we will keep collaborating to make a meaningful impact for all our people. The relationship between the United States and Colombia is unbreakable."
CBC Chairwoman Yvette Clarke underscored the importance of the Caucus' commitment to Colombia and its leadership in fostering bilateral cooperation.
