Food, dance, tradition, literature and music from Colombia: A week you do not want to miss
Five Days, Five Delights: Open a Window to Colombia is a week of free events with renown Colombian artists, chefs, musicians and academics who, through their art, will highlight the most innovative, impactful and imaginative cultural elements of Colombia.
The week will start on Monday, October 19th at 6:30 PM ET , 5.30 PM HR COL with ProColombia President Flavia Santoro, Colombian singer Fonseca, and Ambassador of Colombia to the United States Francisco Santos Calderon, who will discuss the wonders of experiencing Colombia.

Delight #1: Food
At 7:00 PM ET , 6.00 PM HR COL on Monday, October 19th, audiences will experience the first delight with Colombian Chef Charlie Otero who will show you how Caribbean food can become art. Otero will celebrate famous Colombian artists from his native Cartagena by using the colors and flavors of two delicious and beautiful recipes.
Delight #2: Dance
A famous Colombian rhythm will be the second delight on Tuesday, October 20th at 7:00 PM ET, 6.00 PM HR COL. Audiences will learn why Colombian salsa is part of the country´s identity by seeing how it’s taught, learned, judged and danced. Blanca Granados, owner of Ensalsate, and Gustavo Collazos, professor and salsa judge, will explain the intricacies and details of this amazing beat.
Delight #3: Tradition
The third delight on Wednesday, October 21st at 7:00 PM ET , 6.00 PM HR COL is an exploration into Colombian coffee, which is also an exploration into our tradition. Coffee is part of the economy, the social life and the culture of Colombia. It is a product that embodies values and traditions for which only Colombians are known. Audiences will learn about our roots through coffee production with an amazing presentation from Armando Uribe the Director of Trade Union Affairs from the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia. And with expert Juan Pablo Villota from Café San Alberto, Ambassador Santos will show you how to be baptized as a coffee expert from the Colombian point of view.
Delight #4: Literature
On Thursday, October 22nd at 7.00 pm ET, 6.00 PM HR COL we will take you to Chiribiquete, the largest national natural park in Colombia and the principal tropical rainforest national park in the world. Carlos Castaño Uribe, anthropologist and author of Chiribiquete: La maloka cósmica de los hombres jaguar (Chiribiquete: The Maloka of the Jaguar Men), and Sergio Diaz Granados, Executive Director for Colombia at the Inter-American Development Bank, will guide you through this green Colombian jewel to understand why visiting Chiribiquete is even better than your dreams.
Delight #5: Music
The week will end on Friday, October 23rd AT 7.00 PM , 6.00 PM HR COL with an amazing live act of innovative sounds. DJ and producer Julio Victoria and Ali Stone will take you to a world where traditional Colombian instruments are part of a new wave of modern sounds that have helped Victoria and Stone become two of the most prominent Colombian DJs and producers. They will discuss how they create the most amazing sounds and rhythms using their Colombian identity.
The artists you will see during Open a Window to Colombia: Five Days, Five Delights are part of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Relations’ Promotion Plan of Culture, and the events are made possible thanks to a collaboration with ProColombia, the Smithsonian, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
