As part of Colombia’s Cultural Diplomacy Strategy and the Embassy of Colombia’s cultural programming, writers Lorena Salazar Masso, Juan Cárdenas, and Gloria Susana Esquivel participated in the 2025 edition of the Feria Internacional del Libro en Nueva York (FILBO NYC). Their presence highlighted the creativity, diversity, and international reach of contemporary Colombian literature.

FILBO NYC 2025 brought together authors, publishers, scholars, and readers from across the Americas, platforming Colombia's talent and the country as a major global cultural market and advancing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to promoting artistic exchange as a central pillar of its public diplomacy.
During the fair, Masso, Cardenas, and Esquivel participated in panel discussions, readings, and conversations with audiences, offering insights into narrative experimentation, identity, memory, and the evolution of Latin American literature.Â
This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Cultural Diplomacy Strategy: to present Colombia as a country committed to peace, diversity, democratic values, and the protection of its cultural richness, and to strengthen channels for intercultural dialogue with international audiences.
About the authors:
Lorena Salazar Masso, author of the internationally acclaimed Esta herida llena de peces and the novel Maldeniña, brought a voice marked by poetic intensity and rooted in Colombia’s social and geographic complexities.
Juan Cárdenas, one of the country’s most respected contemporary novelists, contributed his perspective on form, language, and the novel's philosophical dimensions.
Gloria Susana Esquivel, writer and poet, added a compelling feminist and interdisciplinary angle through her work spanning fiction, poetry, and nonfiction.
