In a landmark initiative, the Embassy of Colombia in the U.S. hosted the first meeting of Colombian National Army Reserve professionals in the United States, aimed at fostering stronger connections between these reserve officers and Colombia’s diplomatic efforts abroad.
Since its establishment in 1976, the Reserve Officers' Corps has been a vital component in supporting the logistical functions of the Colombian Armed Forces during both peace and crisis periods. These professionals, who voluntarily and honourably serve, are a distinguished group with advanced degrees.
This meeting represents a strategic effort by the Embassy to enhance collaboration and leverage the unique skills of these professionals in support of Colombia's international objectives. "This first-of-its-kind gathering is more than a meeting; it’s an opportunity to bridge the gap between our reserve professionals and the mission they uphold abroad. It reinforces our commitment to maintaining strong, cohesive ties between Colombia’s military and its diaspora," said Ambassador Daniel García-Peña.
By bringing together reserve officers from various states and countries, the Embassy aims to strengthen the role of Colombia’s military professionals abroad and enhance the coordination of activities that support both the military institution and the broader Colombian community in the U.S.
