Ambassador Daniel García-Peña Jaramillo today presented copies of his Letters of Credentials at the U.S. Department of State, marking the official start of his diplomatic duties in the country.
During the event, Ambassador García-Peña Jaramillo met with Acting Chief of Protocol Ethan Rosenzweig, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Brazil, Southern Cone and Andean Affairs, Kevin Sullivan, and Director of the Office of Andean Affairs Marcos Mandojana.
Following the ceremony, Ambassador García-Peña Jaramillo stated, "Today, I presented the copies of my Letters of Credentials, so I am now formally the ambassador to the United States. I had a very productive meeting with Kevin Sullivan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, and the Chief of Protocol. We discussed the current state of relations between our two countries, the importance of maintaining a bipartisan relationship that has spanned decades, and, of course, the challenges ahead."
The bilateral relationship between Colombia and the United States is strong and longstanding. It is based on a shared commitment to democracy, sustainable development, human rights, and environmental protection. Cooperation between the two nations is vital to addressing the regional challenges of the 21st century and to further strengthening the bonds of friendship that benefit both countries and their people.
