Ambassador Daniel García-Peña welcomed a group of 33 officers from Colombia’s Army, Air Force, and Navy participating in the Military Information Course (CIM), who concluded their academic programme with a study visit to Washington, D.C.

The delegation’s visit to Washington underscores the importance Colombia places on preparing the next generation of military leaders through professional education that blends operational training with exposure to international policy, cooperation, and shared security responsibilities.
Ambassador García-Peña underlined that addressing transnational threats requires more than military capability; it demands officers equipped to engage with allies on matters of defence, democracy, and regional stability.
By concluding their course with a strategic immersion in the United States, these officers gain direct insight into the international dimension of Colombia’s security agenda, reinforcing the country’s role as both a contributor to and a beneficiary of hemispheric security cooperation.
