"Life is meant to be faced with no globes" / The Missed Round



Produced by Alejandra Quintero, and starring natural actors from the city of Cartagena. The movie was part of the official selection of the Ibero-American Film Festival of Huelva, Spain where it won the 'Key to Freedom' Award, awarded by the inmates of the Huelva Penitentiary Center, and the Award for the 'Most Supportive Film'.


The Missed Round also won the Audience Award at the fourth edition of the Bogotá International Film Festival and it was selected as the opening film of the Cine en los Barrios


After participating in the Dominican Global Film Festival, the Colombian Film Festival in NY and the Chicago Latino Film Festival, it was selected at the 68th International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg for the Grand Newcomer and the Talent Award, and in the International Panorama section of the Cairo International Film Festival.


IN 2019 received three nominations for the 2019 Macondo Awards; with Manuel Álvarez Valdelamar as Best Leading Actor, and Juan Carlos Pellegrino for Best Music and Best Song.

In this unexpected and poignant drama, Reynaldo “El Piedra” Salgado is a once powerful boxer who, facing the end of his career, enters matches as “bait” – one who fights with no chance of winning.


One day Breyder, a scrawny kid living on the streets in the outskirts of the coastal Caribbean city of Cartagena de Indias, shows up on the ex-champion’s doorstep claiming to be his son. As father and son learn to live together, Reynaldo begins to reconsider his own sense of self as Breyder learns to admire the father who values sacrifice above all else. Spanish with subtitles.
