Washington, july 30th 2021- To discuss the progress of vaccinations, Colombian Minister of Health Fernando Ruiz met with U.S. officials and pharmaceutical manufacturers in Washington, DC this week.
Among his discussions, he met with U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra, officials at USAID and representatives from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Janssen and Moderna.
His meetings particularly focused on cooperation between health authorities from both countries.
The Minister thanked the U.S for the increased support to vaccinate all Colombians and also Venezuelan migrants, more than 1.8 million of whom are living in Colombia having fled the Maduro dictatorship.
U.S. Donates More Vaccines to Colombia
On Friday, July 23rd, Colombia received a donation of 3.5 million Moderna vaccines from the United States. These are in addition to the 2.5 million Janssen vaccines donated a few weeks ago.
