Colombian Defense Minister Reaffirms Security Partnership During U.S. Visit This Week

· Meets with Secretary of Defense Esper at Pentagon: On Friday, Feb. 7, Colombian Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark Esper at the Pentagon to discuss security and defense cooperation, the Venezuela crisis and bilateral counternarcotics efforts, among other priorities. · Visits SOUTHCOM in Key West, FL: On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Minister Holmes visited U.S. Southern Command to meet with SOUTHCOM commander, U.S. Navy Adm. Craig Faller, and command leadership to discuss security cooperation. Watch Video (Miami Herald). Read more (SOUTHCOM Public Affairs).



· U.S.-Colombia Joint Airborne Assault Training: Minister Holmes’ U.S. visit comes a week after American and Colombian paratroopers completed a week-long airborne assault training exercise in Colombia. The exercise included 75 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC, and 40 personnel from U.S. Army South. Read more and Watch Video
