Colombia’s Total Peace advances

Updated: Jun 6

Amid ongoing efforts for peace and reconciliation in Colombia, the 33 member states of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) issued the Kingstown Declaration at the multilateral organization’s VIII Summit. The declaration reaffirmed their support for the Total Peace process in Colombia and the dialogue with the National Liberation Army (ELN). This declaration reverberates the sentiments expressed during the recent visit of the United Nations Security Council to Colombia from February 7-11, 2024, which underscored the international community's solidarity with Colombia's peacebuilding endeavors.

In April, a round of talks took place between the Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN) in Caracas to move forward with the peace negotiations and advance open dialogue.
