Washington DC, September –The Ambassador of Colombia to the United States, H.E. Luis Gilberto Murillo received Colombian Foreign Affairs Minister Álvaro Leyva Durán along with the Minister of Defense Iván Velásquez and Vice Minister of Multilateral Affairs Laura Gil at Colombia’s residence during their trip to Washington DC to hold high-level Roundtable with White House officials.
The High-Level Colombian delegation attended the meeting chaired by Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer and Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman along with representatives from the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and the Office of Political National Drug Control Policy, which took place on Thursday, September 15th at the White House. There, relevant issues of the bilateral relationship between both countries were discussed, such as security, law enforcement, counternarcotic and migration.
On Friday, September 16th Ambassador Murillo and the Colombia Delegation received former US Ambassador, Thomas Shannon, Kevin Whitaker & former National Security Advisor Mark Feierstein to learn about their views on the future of the relationship between Colombia and United States.
In the last meeting of the afternoon, Foreign Affairs Minister Álvaro Leyva, talked to Monsignor Hector Henao, in an event organized by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). They discussed the implementation of the "Total Peace" policy and the perspectives of the role of the Catholic Church.
At the end of the day Minister Leyva traveled to London, where he will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II together with the Colombian First Lady Verónica Alcocer.
El Embajador Luis Gilberto Murillo recibe a delegación colombiana de alto nivel en Washington DC
Washington DC, septiembre –El Embajador de Colombia en Estados Unidos, S.E. Luis Gilberto Murillo recibió al Canciller de Colombia Álvaro Leyva Durán junto con el Ministro de Defensa Iván Velásquez y la Viceministra de Asuntos Multilaterales Laura Gil en la residencia de Colombia durante su viaje a Washington DC para mantener diálogos de alto nivel con oficiales de la Casa Blanca.
La delegación colombiana asistió a la reunión presidida por el principal asesor adjunto de Seguridad Nacional, Jon Finer, y la subsecretaria de Estado, Wendy Sherman junto con representantes del Departamento de Defensa, Departamento de Seguridad Nacional, Departamento de Justicia, y la Oficina de Política Nacional de Control de Drogas, que tuvo lugar el jueves 15 de septiembre en la Casa Blanca. Allí se discutieron temas relevantes de la relación bilateral entre ambos países como son la seguridad, el cumplimiento de la ley, antinarcóticos y migración.
El viernes 16 de septiembre, el Embajador Murillo y la Delegación de Colombia recibieron a los Ex Embajadores de los Estados Unidos, Thomas Shannon, Kevin Whitaker y al Ex Asesor de Seguridad Nacional Mark Feierstein para conocer sus puntos de vista sobre el futuro de la relación entre Colombia y los Estados Unidos.
En el último evento de la tarde, el Canciller Álvaro Leyva, converso con el Monseñor Hector Henao en un evento organizado por el Instituto de Paz de Estados Unidos (USIP por sus siglas en ingles). Hablaron de la implementación de la política “Paz Total” y las perspectivas del rol la Iglesia Católica.
Al final del día el Ministro partió para Londres para asistir al entierro de la Reina Isabel II junto con la Primera Dama de la Nación Verónica Alcocer.
