Ambassador Araújo Castro assumed office in September 2026.

A former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Culture, Ambassador Araújo has held senior leadership positions across national and city government, infrastructure and the private sector. Most recently, she served as Executive President of the Colombian Chamber of Infrastructure, representing a sector central to the country’s growth and competitiveness. She previously served as General Manager of TransMilenio, Bogotá’s mass-transit system, and as Secretary for Social Integration.

Her career combines diplomatic authority, executive experience and a strong understanding of the relationship between public policy and economic development. As Ambassador, she will lead Colombia’s relationship with the United States at a moment of renewed confidence and opportunity for both countries, focused on tangible results for shared security, economic prosperity and regional stability.

Ambassador Araújo holds a degree in Finance and International Relations and a postgraduate qualification in Government, Management and Public Affairs from Universidad Externado de Colombia.​
