Daniel Ávila-Camacho
Deputy Chief of Mission

Career diplomat since 1997 with the rank of Ambassador.  Avila previously served as the OAS Chief of Mission in Colombia for antipersonnel land mines, political counselor and DCM at the Embassy in Washington DC from 2014-2019 and was also Director of the Presidential Program for Comprehensive Action against Antipersonnel Mines in Colombia from 2011 to 2014. He has held several posts in Atlanta, Jamaica and Switzerland.

Chief of Staff
Serving as a CFO, she worked for 20 years in several agencies of the British communications firm WPP.


At the Embassy she oversees administrative and budgetary management. She also takes care of the Ambassadors Agenda.


She graduated from the Universidad Javeriana with a degree in Industrial Engineering with emphasis in Finance.  

Mario Hernández
Minister Counselor


For more than 20 years, Mario structured, directed and managed investments in retail and real estate in Colombia and other countries in Latin America.


At the Colombian Embassy Mario is in charge of commercial affairs. He is the main point of contact between the private sector and the Embassy.

He holds a business degree from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá and an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York.

Olga L. Arenas Neira
Minister Counselor


Career diplomat since 2005. She has served in Tokyo, Japan. 

​At the Embassy she oversees judicial procedures, judicial cooperation and consular Affairs.

She holds a Law degree from Universidad Santo Tomas and a master’s degree in Analysis of Contemporary International Political and Economic Problems from the Institute of Higher Studies for Development.

Andrea Jiménez 
Minister Counselor

Career diplomat since 2001. Abroad, she has served as First Secretary and later DCM in Havana, as Counselor for Legal Affairs in The Hague (twice) and in London.  

At the Embassy she covers the security and defense portfolios. 

​She holds a Law degree from Universidad Externado de Colombia, and a specialization degree on International Relations and International Law from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano.

Adriana Carvajalino 
First Secretary 

Experience in the private sector in the field of Marketing and Education. 

At the Embassy she oversees science and technology, health and  environment affairs.

Holds a Marketing degree from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and an Education Degree from Universidad Manuela Beltrán.


Silvia Dangond-Gibsone


More than 20 years of experience in journalism, culture programs, events, and corporate and strategic 



At the Embassy she is in charge of education, culture and sports affairs. Oversees and creates content for social media channels and the web page in her topics. Organizes and promote cultural events at the Embassy and the Residence of the Ambassador. 

Holds a degree in Political Science from Los Andes University and a Master’s in Communications and Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University. 

María Molina
First Secretary 

Experienced as an International correspondent, analyst, editor, producer and reporter on Europe, United States politics and bilateral relations for radio and television.  Former press secretary for the Colombian Embassy in Madrid.

At the Embassy she is in charge of relations with journalists, and communications strategy. 

​She holds a master’s degree in Journalistic Investigation for TV from “El Mundo” in association with University of San Pablo CEU in Spain.

Paulina Mejía
Third Secretary 


She worked in the private sector and taught law at the Pontificia Bolivariana University in Medellín Colombia.

​At the Embassy she oversees relations with The US Congress and Think Tanks. 

Lawyer and specialist in public law from EAFIT University, with experience in public law matters and advice on Public-Private Partnerships.

Gabriel Martinez Correa
Administrative Assistant 

Previously served as Protocol Officer in the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he had in charge National Orders, served as liaison to different Presidential, Ministerial and high level and State Visits as well as participated and supported different summits and high level events in the areas of State Protocol and events.

At the Embassy he oversees Protocol and Social Events gathered in the Embassy and the Ambassador’s Residence.

Gabriel holds a Political Sciences degree with a political participation emphasis as well as a Master’s degree in Analysis of Contemporary International Political and Economic Problems from the Institute of Higher Studies for Development.

Daniela Valenciano
Administrative Assistant 
Daniela was an intern in the Division of America, at the Office of United States of America and Canada. She has served as a Diplomatic Mission Assistant for the Consular and Legal Affairs section at the Minister or Foreign Affairs office. 

At the Embassy she coordinates the No Objection Letters process with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and helps organize the Ambassador´s agenda and meetings.

​She holds a degree on International Relations from Universidad del Norte (Colombia).

Daniela García
Administrative Assistant  

She worked as a travel coordinator at All God’s Children where she helped in the adoption process of USA families in Colombia.

​At the Embassy she oversees suppliers and supports Ambassador’s commissions in the United States and abroad.

​Daniela holds a degree in Modern Languages and translation from Universidad EAN. 

Nicolás Trejos
Administrative Assistant  

He worked in the private sector as an accountant and tax coordinator for several companies.

​At the Embassy and the Ambassador’s Residence, he oversees administrative activities.

He holds a public accountant degree and Degree in tax sciences from the Central University, Bogota.

Víctor Caro
Administrative Assistant 

Lawyer graduated from the Catholic University of Colombia with experience in Administrative Law.


At the Embassy he oversees accreditation for diplomatic and administrative officials and their dependents.
