Colombia took part in NAFSA 2019, one of the most important educational fairs in the world

NAFSA is the world's largest nonprofit association dedicated to education and international exchange. Every year this organization holds a fair to publicize the most popular and an advantageous educational destination in what is already known as the most important educational internationalization event of the year.

In this annual event, the perspectives, differences, learnings and challenges of people dedicated to education around the world are discussed, and the space is also given to propose solutions.

The Embassy of Colombia to the United States hosted this year's welcome reception. Following a key pillar of President Duque – is expanding cooperation between our two countries in education, science, technology and innovation.

The aim is to support these initiatives, in which Colombia is beginning to take the lead, in order to promote collaboration between individuals that has a positive impact on our global collective society.

In this regard, Ambassador Santos said that "These types of events are not only academic experiences, but also promote intercultural knowledge, cooperation and scientific and research development through the advanced training of leaders with a high degree of social commitment.

And for this, "through scholarships, exchanges and field training, we can inspire and cultivate the next generation of young leaders in both countries and fulfill President Duque's goal of making Colombia the most educated country in Latin America," the Ambassador said.

The reception ended with the intervention of the Vice-Minister of Education, Luis Fernando Pérez, where he invited the participants to look at the new advances in education that the country is making and to consider Colombia as its next educational destination.
