The  Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia is Travelling to the United States on Wednesday, September 5th,  for Meetings on Bilateral Agenda

Washington, DC – The The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Carlos Holmes Trujillo, will hold a three-day agenda in DC. Meetings include senior officials of the Administration of President Trump, the United States Congress, and Think Tanks.

The meetings will focus on strengthening the U.S.-Colombia alliance and reaffirming both countries’ commitment to continue and enhance our close cooperation in counter-narcotics efforts, economic issues and security.  Minister Trujillo will also discuss the central role played by Colombia in helping to foster and achieve security and stability in Latin America, in the light of challenges, such as those posed by the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.

Among the highlighted meetings are the Senate and House Foreign Relations Committees and the House’s State and Foreign Operations Sub Committee.

Minister Trujillo will also meet with the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, in order to examine and review the latest events pertaining to the situation in Venezuela.

On Friday, Sep. 7th, closing the agenda, the Minister will participate in an open discussion at the Inter-American Dialogue, moderated by Michael Shifter, President of The Dialogue.
